arehay v Spondon - ECB Premier League

Marehay claim solid points at The Maryfield

Marehay moved well clear of the wrong end of the table with a solid performance at home to Spondon which was rewarded with a winning-draw and a haul of 16pts. They lost an early wicket to the dangerous Ben Ashdown (3-33) but made quick progress thereafter to reach 51 for 1 thanks to Ben Gartside (48) and Jonathan Bradder (20). A rash of wickets followed, Chris Windmill (2-28) and Waseem Fazal (2-51) getting in on the act, and Marehay dipped to a shaky 94 for 5 but James Kyte (30) and Bil Hartley (29*) remedied the situation in fine style and the home side eventually posted 190 for 8. It proved too much for Spondon, however, in spite of a solid opening stand of 53 between Ben Ashdown (18) and Josh Brear (31). James Richards (27) tried to keep things moving but the early progress, although solid, had been rather ponderous and along came Richard Wood (3-21) to make things even more difficult. The reply slipped alarmingly to 93 for 7 but an attacking rearguard from Windmill (33*) helped see off the threat of defeat and a draw was achieved comfortably enough, the visitors closing on 130 for 7.

3. J Brear - 2. B Gartside - 1.C Windmill
